KingCast artists of the Day: Sarah Vaughan, Lena Horne, Ella Fitzgerald and Roberta Gambarini.

Now that I'm finished writing the memoranda to expose police abuse, injustice and violation of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and New Hampshire RSA 91-A Right to know, I can return to listening to more Jazz and being more human. Just some ladies I respect madly; Roberta will carry the torch proudly along with many others who may or may not get mass media airtime.
I have a version of Ms. Vaughan performing "Ave Maria" that sends chills down my spine and a warmth to my heart. Yeah there is something deeply personal on that one for me, but it is a stellar, stellar piece of music regardless. The minimalist yet foreboding orchestration combines with her husky yet delicate voice in a manner that defies description. Here it is. As for the men, Coltrane, Parker, Mingus, Monk, Brecker they are all great but none better than Miles/website and whomever Miles was with. Somewhere I have some BW pics I shot of Cicely Tyson back in the day (1989); I never got to meet The Man but his better half whom I met shortly after their separation sure is one wonderful lady, beauty and integrity personified.

NH AG Kelly Ayotte: take a lesson.
Hey, I said "more" human. Still walking that asymptote, still obviously closer to the axis, yet Experienced; Bold as Love.

Wow thank you for that site. Now I have a good diversion!

When were you at Berklee?

My friend Trent Berry teaches there from time to time; just run his name on this blawg.

And I knew this other cat who studied there named Dan Van Wie.

Dan is a trip.
