What interested you in this story? This book isn't a whodunit, but how did these two guys get on a collision course? I've covered a lot of police shootings, and this one is not that cut-and-dry.
How will you sort out the intense disagreement about who's to blame for the shootings? I don't think one guy was right and one guy was wrong, and I think that's what drew me to this project.
Well that sounds like a start but I definitely caution him to take the same walk I am taking deep down the evidentiary path of unethical coverup as linked in yesterday's Dean Shalhoup post before he takes finger to keypad. He will definitely want to see the correspondence file between the AG's office and me :)
He goes on to say that he could have just taken the official report from the AG's office and put it in book form. Thank Gosh he didn't do that because first of all Kelly didn't even believe in it enough to sign it, and that's all that AP reporter Beverley Wang does, for certain. She's pathetic.
And I can safely say that only people in the Kenney family or KingCast affiliates have been granted any specific rights to any documentary or feature film, as contemplated by our working title "Franconia 5/11."
Meanwhile, another writer with whom I have spoken on multiple occasions should have his story out this Thursday all over the Greater Boston area, unless his editors have shut him down at the last minute. We shall see.
PS: Here's the coincidence part -- Mr. Sherman wrote "Search for the Strangler," a critical look into the Boston Strangler/Albert DiSalvo confession after his Aunt Mary Sullivan was murdered. It is one of the Nation's most amazing murder mysteries. But right next to it is the Sam Shepard case, which was just coming in the door when I was leaving Terry Gilbert's office to work for the Ohio AG. Here's what Terry says about the First Amendment and me, and here is a Nova feature with an interview with him -- and he appears with his wife Robin and me in KingCast short film "American Lawyer I" and of course I reference the media hype of the Shepard case on my Arraignment Day/Press Conference short film in Cheshire County for the charges I beat back as Southern NH NAACP legal chair using the power of media and the Truth.
Sam Reese Shepard is standing by, commenting and watching as the Union Leader continues to commit journalistic breaches of integrity.
