KingCast asks of the Franconia shooting tragedy, "What if Liko Kenney wasn't actually speeding?"

Everyone fed by the major media is so gung-ho on assuming that Mr. Kenney (RIP) had to be doing something wrong in order for Officer McKay (RIP) to get up on him as he did. But have we seen any actual proof of that? No, because everyone is busy making sure that we respect Officer McKay's death, which of course I do -- both as a citizen at large and as a former AAG and private attorney who has sued and represented police officers. But my respect is not without major concerns as to why the investigation was terminated within 24-48 hours as noted in this post. I mean, let's assume arguendo the speed limit was 55 and Liko was actually doing 55, double nickels on the dime?

Then we would really have to ask why Officer McKay failed to call for backup (or why he even pulled him over), as noted in this post, wouldn't we?

And it sure might explain why Liko Kenney shot him after asking for another officer, being run down, car bashed off the road and pepper sprayed, too. I'm not saying it went down like that, but then again we'll never really know without a wrongful death action, will we?

Here's an NHPR story on it.

PS: The black box of Officer McKay’s car would likely tell us how fast he was or was not going prior to ramming Mr. Kenney’s car off the road. As a car enthusiast, I know that much.

I mean, as noted in these comments:

https://www.blogger.com/comment.g?blogID=13439084&postID=2049138066041620661

.....I know for fact I've been pulled over without cause, but never by a cop with whom I've come to fisticuffs with and who I know hates me. And when it happened near the blue-blood grounds of my prep school "click on Hawken" for you newbies:

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2006/08/kingcast-presents-molly-shannon-in.html

.....when I was just out for a night drive I was pretty intimidated, you bet.

So for Liko what he went through would indeed be pretty terrifying, wouldn't it?

And it would be even more terrifying if you had an agreement with the town that you could ask for another officer and the fisticuff officer denied your request, ran your car off the road and pepper-sprayed you and your co-pilot, right?

Especially if you weren't speeding at that point (or at any point) but just driving slowly to try to get across town lines to avoid the cop of whom you were terrified.

They can fool some of the people some of the time but they can't fool an ex-AAG like me any of the time.

This case is screaming for a thorough investigation.

Namaste.

And again, in light of the sensitive subject matter involved I'm going to be absolutely clear:

I'm not trying to exonerate Mr. Kenney but at the same time I'm just trying to put people in Mr. Kenney's shoes because the mass media has never done that, and never will do that. My experience as a reporter and lawyer and activist tells me that. Empirically.

And any way you look at it, he was the recipient of some bizarre police (and of course) citizen conduct that night.

Peace.

Comments from the NHPR story:

http://www.nhpr.org/node/12963

IT WAS CLEAR THAT MANY IN FRANCONIA STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT HOW A TRAFFIC STOP COULD EXPLODE SO OUT OF CONTROL

THEY ALSO QUESTION HOW THE STATE AND LOCAL AUTHORITIES HAVE HANDLED THE INVESTIGATION OF THE SHOOTINGS.

CUT-BILL2
(“WE HAVE QUESTIONS ALL RIGHT….QUESTIONS FOR THE ATTORNEY GENERAL…QUESTIONS FOR THE GOVERNOR….)

THAT’S LIKO KENNY’S UNCLE – WILLIAM KENNEY.

WILLIAM KENNEY SAID HIS NEPHEW WAS SIMPLY NOT THE BAD PERSON SOME HAD PORTRAYED HIM.

CUT-BILL1
(“LIKO…WAS NO CHARLIE MANSON. LIKO WAS A MAN TRYING TO GET HOME …..LIKO WAS JUST A YOUNG MAN TRYING TO MAKE IT HOME…”)

THE MAN WHO WAS RIDING IN THE CAR WITH LIKO KENNEY WHEN THE SHOOTINGS OCCURRED WAS ALSO AT THE RECEPTION.

21-YEAR-OLD CALEB MCCAULEY SAYS HE LIVED WITH KENNEY FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS.

HE WOULD SAY LITTLE ABOUT WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED THAT NIGHT.

BUT HE DID SUGGEST THERE MAY BE MORE TO THE STORY.

CUT-CALEB2
(LIKO...EVEN DURING THIS WHOLE THING HE WAS SCARED FOR HIS LIFE. THAT’S ALL I HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT…I’M JUST TRYING TO GET ON WITH MY LIFE AND MAKE SURE HIS NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE AGAIN, CAUSE IT ALL COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED AND IT’S A SAD THING THAT PEOLE HAD TO DIE. WE’RE GONNA MAKE SURE THIS NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN AND THAT’S THE ONE THING I’M GONNA FIGHT FOR.)

AUTHORITIES HAVE SAID THE MOTORIST THAT SHOT LIKO KENNEY– GREGORY FLOYD OF EASTON WILL NOT FACE CHARGES.

FOR N-H-P-R NEWS I’M TODD WELLINGTON

Issues leading up to it aside, what was Kenney doing with a loaded semi-automatic pistol in his car, why did he fire shot after shot into him and why did he run him over twice?

Regardless of history, he was a killer with a killer's mind set. He had the weapon ready, he used it repeatedly on an officer who had not drawn his gun and after seeig the video, an officer who had walked away from the car..then he ran him over.

He is in fact a murderer and a cold blooded one.

Christopher King said...

He most certainly was not.

He did improperly have a gun but he had that gun because he and other people were afraid of Bruce McKay and that's a fact you fail to recognize.

And you have not one scintila of evidence that Bruce didn't put his hand on his gun because he's out of camera, after violating town policy on use of force with the Tahoe (you can only use it in situations where deadly force is available) in in OC Spray because you're supposed to give an opportunity to obey a verbal command, and McKay never gave a command, just continued terrorizing, as he did with that woman who issued a complaint that NH AG Kelly Ayotte lied about.

http://christopher-king.blogspot.com/2007/12/kingcast-presents-thin-blue-line.html

Let's have it your way for a second and Liko is a murderer.

Does that excuse Kelly for being a liar?

Well the important thing is that the pig cop died. When a cop kills someone, the higher ups say "good job" and next week another pig cop kills someone innocent.

That fucking stupid marine will probably be killed by a cop someday because police are told by homeland security that veterans are the greatest threat to USA. Dont beleive me? Google MIAC report by homeland security.

Mr. AAG, being terrified and sprayed with pepper spray in no way justifies shooting anyone in the back and then running them over. You are an idiotic toolbox. "Liko" was not just misunderstood, he was white trash who had nothing better to do other than play the victim. No matter how you cut it, your dead butt buddy Liko is dead and deserves to be after shooting a cop in the back. If he had pulled over and followed instructions both would be alive today.

Christopher King said...

Well you know, it's the combination of the pepper spray and the FACT that Liko and Caleb motioned to Floyd for help and got none, all of that.

If McKay had followed his protocol on OC Spray and Pursuit -- designed to de-escalate the situation -- both would be alive today.

And of course if McKay hadn't gotten away with violating Liko Kenney's Civil Rights in 2003 Liko wouldn't have been so afraid.

Thanks for your concern.
